Dementia rates drop for those over 65

I don’t post as many science and health-related stories as I like, but I found one I had to comment on. Researchers in Wales and England did a study on individuals over the age of 65 and found that the rates of dementia have dropped from 8.3% to 6.2% over the past 20 years. Another study in Denmark which tested 90 year olds, also found improved performance from current subjects versus those from 10 years ago.

While there is no cure for dementia, these findings should give all of us hope. It appears we can do a lot to improve our chances by monitoring our health closely, living a healthy lifestyle, and challenging our mind.
