Twitter betrays its customers
Twitter betrays its customers.
Twitter has buckled to France and agreed to divulge the names of people who make racist or anti-Semitic remarks. I don’t know why they are doing this, since Twitter is based in the United States, and it doesn’t have a physical presence in France.
The other worrisome part is that someone has to decide what is racist or anti-Semitic. Some comments are easy calls, while others are not. One case that pops to mind are comments made by Greek Olympian Voula Papachristou, which didn’t seem malicious at all. It’s a good thing she didn’t live in France.
